Self-Study Courses

Our three most popular courses are available for self-study:

They are priced at 25% of a normal classroom course. You get several benefits of self-study:

  1. More Detailed - in a classroom, we are usually under time pressure. We do cover all the topics, but not in as much detail as with the self-study courses.
  2. Repeat Lectures - if something didn't make sense the first time, listen to the lecture again!
  3. Slack Support - Each course has a private Slack channel where you can ask questions and meet fellow students.
  4. At Your Pace - too busy this week? Take a break from the course and continue next week. You have a whole year to get through the material.

MODEC Self-Study at Your Company?

If you have a large number of Java developers who could benefit from Java training, we have a special program for you. We call it MODEC - "Managed On-Demand Extreme Course". Students are signed up to an email sequence, which drives them through the course, sending regular reminders and tracking their progress. For each US$6000 of course spending, you are entitled to one free one-hour Q&A webinar with the author of the courses, Dr Heinz M. Kabutz.

Prices for the MODEC Courses are in US$ and include bulk discounts:

  • 1-20 students: 0% discount over list price
  • 21-50 students: 10% discount over list price
  • 51-150 students: 20% discount over list price
  • 151+ students: 30% discount over list price

Example 1: Large insurance company purchases 178 seats of our Extreme Java - Concurrency Performance for Java 8 Course. The course is priced at US$ 787 per person. For the first 20 seats, no discount applies, thus they pay US$ 787 each. For the next 30 students, the price is discounted by 10%, thus they pay US$ 708.30 each. The next 100 students get a 20% discount, thus US$ 629.60 each. The remaining 28 get a 30% discount, so their price is US$ 550.90. The total bill comes to 787 * 20 + 708.30 * 50 + 100 * 629.60 + 550.90 * 28 = US$ 129540.20. This entitles the company to 21 free webinars to answer questions.

Example 2: Engineering company buys 34 seats of our Extreme Java - Concurrency Performance for Java 8 Course. The course is priced at US$ 787 per person. For the first 20 seats, no discount applies, thus they pay US$ 787 each. For the next 14 students, the price is discounted by 10%, thus they pay US$ 708.30 each. The total bill comes to 787 * 20 + 708.30 * 14 = US$ 25656.20. This entitles the company to 4 free webinars to answer questions.
